About Pat Brownewell:
I have been working in the field of photography since I was a boy. I can remember standing on a bucket, agitating trays of prints for my father (who is also a photographer). My dad put an old Minolta in my hands when I was about six. From there, I accompanied him on many shoots until I started out on my own.
At 16, I decided to start shooting sports for my high school magazine. I started shooting football at night and moved on to cover all sports. By the end of the year, my sports work helped to land me my first wedding shoot.
A lot has happened in the last 10 years. I graduated college, married, and started a family. I have traveled to Lake Forest College to shoot football, Washington D.C. to work for the USDA, to Indianapolis and Chicago for weddings, and north to Kalamazoo for the National Curling Championships.
Photography has been good to me. I have the ability to stay at home with my family as well as meet all sorts of new people. I've met the governor, hung out with World War II pilots, and handled 150 year old insect specimens. I get to travel, occasionally, it's even paid for. I'm always getting to work on new projects and never see the same situation twice.
About Brownewell Photography:
The company is primarily under the direction of Pat. He schedules and directs most of the shoots, does the editing, and takes care of technology utilization. He runs the day to day operations and decides what direction to take the company.
Alisha, Pat's wife, is the primary second photographer. She works with the bride and bridesmaids at weddings. She also tends to be the artistic person and is the acting art director on shoots. She describes the way she wants a photo to look and Pat makes it happen.
Chuck, Pat's dad, occasionally shoots alongside Pat. He teaches a commercial photography program. After 35+ years in the photography industry, he is a master of the craft and is an invaluable wealth of knowledge.
